The Deal That Makes GEO Impossible to Ignore
On October 1, 2026, Michael Kassan, the founder of MediaLink and one of the most connected figures in advertising, made a personal investment in OptimizeGEO, a generative engine optimization startup valued at $80 million. The pre-Series A round was led by Young Capital. Kassan declined to share the size of his investment but told Adweek that his firm, 3C Ventures, will advise on go-to-market strategy, enterprise relationships, and partnerships.
His reasoning was direct. "GEO is bigger than the evolution of search, changing how consumers are discovering brands," Kassan said. "As we see more and more of that, there may not actually be a search page. That's the reasoning in terms of the timing and the opportunity."
That last line matters. The man who spent decades brokering deals between brands, agencies, and media companies is saying the search page itself may disappear. If he's placing personal capital behind that thesis, every marketing team should be paying attention.

What OptimizeGEO Actually Does
OptimizeGEO is not a dashboard. CEO Kirthiga Reddy described the platform as an "AI recommendation agent that's constantly watching what's going on and is surfacing recommendations that go across marketing channels," covering social, paid media, content, and retail listings on platforms like Amazon.
The platform runs analysis at what Reddy called a "statistically significant level," processing tens of millions of prompts per brand. It weights results by where audiences actually are. If ChatGPT dominates a category in a given market, it counts for more weight there. Recommendations are sorted into fixed high, medium, and low priority. Its agents can also write content in a brand's voice.
The company makes money via subscriptions at three tiers: $499, $1,999, or $4,999 per month. That pricing structure makes GEO accessible to mid-market companies, not just enterprises with seven-figure retainers.
100+ Brands, 20 Countries, Real Results
OptimizeGEO now works with over 100 brands across 20 countries, including Glance, an InMobi-owned company that builds an AI shopping agent across phones, TVs, and laptops, as well as CeraVe and Maybelline.
The Glance case study offers the most concrete data point in the entire GEO market right now. From April to July 2026, Glance achieved a 2.5x increase in AI visibility and a 6.6x increase in share of voice in the shopping category, according to Aashish Benjamin, the company's VP and global head of brand and consumer marketing. Benjamin shared the results with Adweek.
The methodology was methodical. Glance asked AI assistants about itself and its category, mapped sentiment, tracked how often it appeared, and analyzed which citations the LLMs pulled. The analysis revealed something unexpected: AI answers favored YouTube videos in the brand category. Glance's video strategy had centered on Instagram and TikTok, which Benjamin said AI chatbots cannot read effectively. So Glance added YouTube to the media mix with long-form videos, podcasts, and influencer partnerships. It also cleaned up outdated and inconsistent descriptions of itself across the web and rebuilt its website to become more readable to bots.
Benjamin said results appeared within weeks to a month. He also acknowledged what remains unclear: whether that visibility translates to downstream impact like website traffic or sales.

The GEO Vendor Landscape Is Getting Crowded
OptimizeGEO is not alone. The GEO vendor market is expanding rapidly, with companies like Bluefish, Evertune, and Profound all competing for the same budget. Kassan acknowledged the competition but drew a clear line: "There's a lot of companies out there that can tell a CMO how often their brand appears, but that alone isn't a business. Movement from intelligence to implementation to measurable growth matters to me."
The investor roster adds credibility. Beyond Kassan, backers include OpenAI's Kiran Mani (managing director, APAC and Japan), Gulshan Verma (director, Amazon Ads), Carolyn Everson (senior advisor at Permira), and Shiv Singh (CEO of Savvy Matters and co-founder of AI Trailblazers). OptimizeGEO is also in the startup programs run by OpenAI and Perplexity.
Reddy called those companies "a great sounding board in terms of strategy, direction, helping guide us."
The broader market context is accelerating. In the past week alone, multiple GEO-focused announcements have landed:

What This Means for Montreal Businesses
The implications for Montreal and Quebec businesses are concrete. GEO is no longer something only large multinationals can invest in. At $499 per month, OptimizeGEO's entry tier is within reach of mid-market companies. But the real opportunity is not in subscribing to a tool. It is in understanding how AI search engines discover, describe, and cite your brand.
Three takeaways from the OptimizeGEO data are directly actionable:
-
YouTube is the hidden GEO channel. Glance's breakthrough came from discovering that AI answers favored YouTube content. If your brand is not on YouTube with substantive long-form content, you are likely invisible in AI search results.
-
Web consistency matters more than you think. Glance cleaned up outdated and inconsistent descriptions across the web. AI models pull from whatever they find. Contradictory information dilutes your brand's presence in AI answers.
-
Bot readability is a technical requirement. Glance rebuilt its website to become more readable to bots. If your site relies on JavaScript rendering that AI crawlers cannot execute, your content may as well not exist for AI search.
The Citation Gap Is Real
The Glance case study also surfaced an honest caveat. Benjamin acknowledged it is still unclear whether AI visibility translates to downstream impact like website traffic or sales. This is the central question every GEO investment must answer.
But consider the counterfactual. If your competitors are showing up in AI answers and you are not, the absence is measurable even if the presence is not yet. Zero visibility in AI search is a growing risk that compounds as more consumers shift their discovery habits to conversational AI.
WPP Media projected that AI search will top $100 billion in ad revenue by 2030. That projection implies the audience is moving. Brands that build AI search authority now will be positioned when the monetization mechanisms mature.
